It's finally time to kick off one of the most critical parts of this project...fundraising! We have a huge goal to reach and I'm choosing to rely on optimism in order to make it to the finish line. To begin field production our team needs $113,050. Post production will take almost as much. When I look at those numbers, I see a huge uphill climb but I have so much faith in this project. What drives me? Knowing that I need to share my father's story with a larger audience. It's a story that incites joy, hope, determination, mystery and the power of the human spirit.

My sister and I grew up watching our dad share his life's story with everyone from reporters to school auditoriums to veterans groups, etc. It was a major part of our childhood. The part that has stayed with me over the years is the way those audiences reacted to my father's words. In my mind's eye I can still see the tears coming from strangers in the audience. I can still hear the silence that often fell across the room when my dad talked about never being able to see again. And I can still feel the emotions often left within the confines of the auditoriums and classrooms where he spoke -- joy, inspiration, determination and hope. His message is universal -- Never. Give. Up. It was his mantra. He'd always tell my sister and I, "Girls, you can do anything you want. You can be anything you want. All you need to do is try." And so with that, here I go. I'm going to try with all of my heart to reach my goal. I'd love your help getting there!
